4 Years Already

Today marks the 4 year anniversary of our marriage. It is hard to believe that it has been that long since we were married, yet our lives have changed so much.

Cale and I met when I was a senior in high school. We got introduced because my cousin Cullen was dating his sister, Joy. Joy and I met for the first time in Wichita Falls, Texas at a meeting or something. When we met I knew we had a lot in common. We both loved sports and were somewhat tomboyish. Shortly after meeting Joy we started to become friends and I met Cale. At first he didn’t say much, he was just along for the ride. After going to a few meetings and visiting Oklahoma I started getting to know Cale. Cale is not an easy person to get to know, in fact I am still getting to know Cale. The first impression he had on me was that he was funny. The few times he did talk it was always joking or making fun of something. As we started to joke with each other we decided to keep in touch by email. At this point there was no romantic interactions, we were just getting to know each other and we were friends. The emails we wrote are some of the most off the wall things you have ever read. For some reason we made up stupid ridiculous stories to entertain each other, and they were very entertaining. I have kept a lot of these stories and they still crack me up.

Eventually we started hanging out more and talking on IM. We liked each other and we both knew it, I was just waiting for him to get up the courage to ask me out. Cale is a shy guy and it took some time, so we still just hung out. Lebanon was the first time we hung out as a couple, even though he really hadn’t asked me out yet. It was a great Lebanon and I have so many memories of it. Sarah and her kung foo fighting, Carly and the bidget, and many other memorable things happened, but the most memorable was all the time I spent with Cale. After that meeting Cale finally got up the courage to ask me out. Our first weekend as a real couple was spent in Farmerville, LA. We were there to listen to Don King and Ryan was dating Jojo at the time. It was a great meeting, a great weekend, and the start of our relationship that we had no idea would turn into a marriage.

Cale proposed to me on April 5th as we were taking a walk in a park near my parents house. It wasn’t really much of a surprise though, we knew we were going to get married once we both finished school. This day 4 years ago was one of the happiest days of my life. We had been dating and living long distance for 3 and half years and now we were going to be living together in a house of our own. I was going to be the wife of a wonderful man and spend the rest of my life with him.

Today I look back and can’t believe how much has changed since the day we said “I do”. We now have a son together, and we are parents and adults, but I still feel like I’m just a girl that found a great man that I am lucky to be married to.
