5 Months Old- Squealing Little Piggy

by RenaeMcAlister on August 21, 2009

Dear Jake,

You are growing too fast! At your appointment last month you were 16 pounds and nearly 27 inches tall! You are just growing so fast and I am constantly going through your closet and setting aside all the things you have outgrown. We started you on some cereal and some baby food and it is helping me a lot. You were nursing pretty much every 2 hours and now you will go at least 3 or 4 hours between feedings.

So you have teeth now and you know how to use them! You are chewing on me like I am a teething ring and it is getting irritating. When you are done eating you start to gnaw and that is when I scream and you look at me and grin. I can’t help but melt.

Since cutting your two bottom teeth you have started sucking your lip in all the time. It cracks me up because you look so goofy. This is your newest expression and I had to get a picture of it.

You are so happy. You squeal like a little piggy with delight. Lots of things make you squeal. Tickling, of course is one of them. You are so ticklish right behind your shoulder blades, on your feet, your ribs, under your chin, pretty much your entire body, especially the insides of your chubby little thighs! Max makes you squeal too with random things he does. Your favorite game is peek-a-boo and it usually gets a squeal or two. You go buck wild in the Jumperoo, I mean BUCK WILD. Your legs kick like crazy, your arms flail, and you scream or squeal the entire time you are jumping. You are such a happy boy!

You are flipping over like crazy and I know it won’t be long until you start crawling. I am very excited for you to be able to sit up and you do pretty well when I prop you up. You are grabbing at everything and your hand-eye coordination is getting better all the time. At church you love to grab my song book and try to put it in your mouth. A lot of times I don’t even use a song book because it is too much of a hassle.

Max turned 2 this past month and you slept through the majority of the party, thankfully. I don’t mean that in a mean way, but it was nice for me to be able to focus on Max and not have to worry about you. I like that I have quiet time with both of you. In the morning you usually wake up around 7:30am and I get alone time with you for 30 minutes to an hour before Max wakes up. I feed you in your room and then we come in the living room and I play with you and tickle you and enjoy kissing your neck and double chin! Those are the best kisses! Jake, your brother loves you so much. Usually the first thing he says in the morning is “Baby Jake?” He wants to know where you are and he wants to see you and give you a kiss. It is so precious to see him care about you and watch you smile as soon as you see him.

So one Sunday afternoon we went to Cici’s to eat and they had this machine with fake mustaches. On the outside of the machine it said “A Real Man’s Mustache”. Aunt Jojo had 50 cents on her and went and bought one for you and Max. Needless to say we laughed our heads off and by the looks of the picture, you didn’t appreciate the humor in it.

This month has been so fun with lots of new changes with you getting teeth and starting some solid foods. You are starting to show your personality more every day. I actually look forward to getting out with you two and it has gotten much easier to do so. I miss you so much when you are sleeping and I am always ready to see your happy face in the morning. The other day I heard you just squealing and talking to yourself in the morning and when I walked in your room and turned the light on you were just laying there looking at your mobile and playing with your feet. You looked up and saw me and gave me the biggest smile. It is the best way to start the day!

Love,
Mama

well you mentioned a couple posts ago that only like 4 people read this but thats not true! Even though I get to see their progression at church twice a week I still love hearing what you have to say about them both. You are such a wonderful mom, renae. I love you and your family and I love reading about the funny things your boys are up to!
